What's Up, Weekend? aka Fri-YAY! (5)

Happy RED Friday!
The humans in Kansas City are pumped for the Super Bowl this weekend!  The city is lit up and we are ready!  Go Chiefs!

Are you watching the Super Bowl on Sunday?  What is your favorite part of it?

This week was another busy one with an Underground Game on Wednesday.
My Vixens lost, but it was a good game.  Quite a show for those there.  I can tell from the video that I am making progress in regards to how I look.  I've been sticking to eating at home and bringing my lunch to work.  Also, as much water as I can.  The energy drinks are a thing of the past.

Work has been bananas.  My interview on Monday went well though.  I was the first one of the day.  I didn't use any notes for my presentation.  The only thing I read was my conclusion, but that is only because it was really good and I didn't want to flub it. I tried to sell myself the best I could.  That was some of the feedback I received from my last interview.  I didn't sell my greatness.  The interview after me came in the door as I was going out, he had like fifty note cards with him.  I hope he wasn't staring at them the entire time.  Also, I've given presentations to the Director of Social Services and the Director of the Family Support Division before with confidence.  Public speaking is something I can do.

Peyton had an ortho appointment on Thursday and another appointment in the afternoon.  I just called him off school for the day.  Something happened at school and I let Alli come home too.  So we went and had pizza together and shopped at Aldi's.  We found some yummy things.  They had brownie hummus and cranberry goat cheese.  Yum.  We looked at movie times, but didn't find anything we wanted to see.  Have you seen any good movies lately?

The February Insta pic challenge is posted.  I hope February will be better in regards to the challenge.  I didn't do well in January.  :)  I signed up for the Busy Mama Book Swap for next month too.

Today, I need to work on the February meal plan.  I ordered Imperfect Produce and will go in and customize my box this afternoon.  Have you ever tried this?  Let me know your thoughts.  I have a few grocery stores I want to go to this weekend because of their sale items.  I like going with a list though and not just willy nilly.

What do you have planned for the weekend?

Home Tour: The Front Room

Sometimes my house is a hot mess.  Especially right after the holidays.  Here is a small tour and before/after of my front room.
Here is the before.

Here is the after.
That's the only thing on this wall.  I feel like I might need something else there.  It's just plain.
My entry way was hot mess express.
Christmas Decor.  Random things.
Delivery boxes, Grocery Bags.
Looks better.
As you can see on the window, that someone painted the front door before I moved in...(almost six years ago) and didn't remove the extra paint.
I might get around to doing that...eventually?
Busters happy
Cats wanted to venture outside. One did escape and got to the snow and said "hell no" and booked it back to the house.
Couch mess.  See what I did there...moved everything from the entry way onto the couch to make it look messier than it actually was. :)
Happy napping cat.  I can't tell which one it is from the pic. I have the blankets on it to try to control the mammal hair.   A new couch is on my list for my savings.  This one has paid it's dues and needs to move on to a new home.
I always have my curtains closed now because of my former creepy neighbor.  I wrote about him one time.  I hope he read it.  Because he's a creep and needs to know it!
Another hot mess we have here.  These are all clean clothes.  They somehow got piled on the ottoman.
Much better.  It's all cleaned off and the ottoman has been moved.
I don't want to admit how long this was up.  My deadline was Feb 1st though, so I beat that.
Half the decorations are already off the tree anyway.
Much better.
What are you thoughts on the wood paneling?
I keep going back and forth, but I think I want to keep it.
I do have a wood burning stove, but the previous owner didn't take care of it.
I need someone to come inspect it and give me an estimate on getting it to be functional.
I need to get Buster a new bed, because he has started to tear the stuffing out.

My front room is pretty plain, but it's easier to manage when it has less stuff in it.

A Monday Minute or Two!

Hi all!  I hope your weekend was awesome!  Did you do anything exciting?

On Friday night, my tire blew out on the highway.  Which was unfortunate, but things were taken care of quickly and I was home within 45 minutes of it happening.  I did not change the tire myself, which I am perfectly capable of.  It's cold though and I was tired from work.  Roadside assistance took care of it quicker than I could anyway.  While I was waiting, I ordered new tires and scheduled an appointment the next day to have them put on.

When I got home.  I didn't do much.  Ate a little dinner, watched a little TV and read my book.  I live an exciting life sometimes. :)

Saturday morning was spent cleaning up the rest of the Christmas Decor in the front room.  The only things I have up are a picture of my kiddos in a holiday frame and my buffalo check banner.  It's not too Christmas-y, so it works.  I shoveled my walkway and driveway.  I actually enjoy doing it.  I read a little more and watched a little more TV before heading to my tire appointment.  I arrived a little early and they took my car in right away.  I had brought my book in, but ended up talking to the manager there.  I enjoyed the convo and stories he shared.  It only took 45  minutes from start to finish.
The tire place is in the same parking lot as Alli's work.  I went over and had a late lunch and saw her.  She was happy to see me.

I met up with friends at the Courthouse Exchange for dinner.  I had a cider and fried pickles.  I was set with just that after my late lunch.  Afterwards, we headed over to watch the derbies at Fountain City Roller Derby.  It was a fun time and I like seeing my friends.

On Sunday, I picked up Peyton from a friends house in the early morning.  I had the afternoon derby practice (12:30-2pm, it's the worse one!) We did a workout before practice, it's a tough, but fun one. When I got home from practice, Alli had ordered a pizza for us.  Another late lunch. I was planning on making enchiladas, but I saved those for tonight.

Saturday morning thoughts...

On Friday, I was woken up by my phone ringing.  School had been canceled.  It was 5 am.  I set my alarm to get up a little while later.  I ended up getting out of bed around 6:30 and getting ready for work.  I had prepared the night before because it was already snowing.  I had my car parked up at the top of the hill.  Despite that, I still had to shovel and I did quite a bit.  I did about half of the road leading up to the main street.  It was a good workout and my FitBit captured it.  It took a little longer than expected, but I was only 15 minutes late to work.  When I arrived at work and was still in my car in the parking garage, I received a text from my employer (State of Missouri) that Hazardous Travel was in force.  I made up my 15 minutes at the end of the day.
In my work bag, I stuck an extra pair of shoes in there, just in case my shoes were soaked through by the time I was finished shoveling.  I didn't need to use them.  The boots I had purchased from Costco kept my feet warm, dry and cozy.  So grateful for them.  They also have fur on them and I love it.
Kibben always hops in the bathtub once someone gets out.  He stares down the drain.  I always wonder what he sees.
Walking back to my house on Thursday night.  The snow had already started.  You see my sons footprints in front of me and the lights on in my daughters room.  I had parked quite a bit aways from my house to make sure I could get to work on Friday.

This was the end of the easement on Friday morning.  I love it.  The snow is so beautiful.
Below are pictures from ten years ago!  My kiddos were so young.

My plans for Saturday are to clean up a little, take Alli to work, go to a roller derby game for the other league and have dinner with friends.  I am going to take a little time to work on my presentation for Monday and plan my outfit.
What are you up to this Saturday?

What's Up, Weekend? aka Fri-YAY! (4)

It's Friday!  My favorite day!  I like to spend Fridays talking about my week.  I want to remember the good.  Sometimes I talk about the bad or ugly, but I'm not so sure I want to remember that as much.
Monday was a holiday.  The kids were out of school and I was off of work.  Alli and I went grocery shopping.  This was also the day we cleaned out Peyton's room.  It looks so nice now.  We do need to get a curtain rod, I had gotten him some nice curtains that match his sheets.  I do need to get him a new comforter.  Maybe I can get him to go shopping with me to find one?  Kibben helped me make his bed.  He loves getting under the sheets while I make it and then popping out once someone gets into bed.  Buster enjoys the heating blanket in the bed.
We went through all his clothing and have a large pile to take the donation center.

Tuesday -- After I had already arrived to work, I got a text (I was still in my car) and was asked to cover one of our other offices that morning.  The boiler was broken!  It was 55 degrees in the office.  Which the building manager said was fine to work in.  We were all wearing our coats and gloves though.  When it's only 9 degrees outside, it would be nice to go into warm office.  Maintenance did get the part to fix the boiler, but by the time I left at 12:30, it was only 61 degrees in there.  I finished out the day in my normal office and worked on my presentation for the interview that I have on Monday.  Tuesday was a practice night and setting up for the game on Wednesday.
Look at Freddie.  He loves to cuddle on my bed.  And yes, I watch movies on my laptop in my bed.  It seems to be the only way I can fall asleep at the moment.
Say hi to Maggie!  She was underneath the TV table.  Yes, there really is dog hair there.  Buster is shedding like nobodies business right now.  Hair is everywhere!!  But Maggie is cute.
Wednesday morning was supposed to start with a meeting, but it got cancelled.  Wednesday afternoon was supposed to be training, but it got cancelled.  I've been scheduled for this training for six months.  They said weather was the reason.  It was raining and snow mix all day and above freezing.  The roads were fine.  Work was steady.  I had my friend emailing me back and forth perfecting my PowerPoint.  I submitted it on Wednesday, a day early.  Hopefully, that shows something.  The game happened.  It was a smaller event from when we canceled the large event.  I was so lucky to get all of our vendors rescheduled for both dates.  It went well. We had about 100 people in attendance.  (good for a Wednesday night game!)  I got a massage from one of our sponsors.  I need much more than 15 minutes though. :)  I got pulled pork nachos from one of our vendors, they were delicious.  We still have All-Stars practice afterwards and it was fun and tiring. I still didn't fall asleep until 1 am though.   I'm on a non-sleeping gig again.  Such irritation.  I think my mind doesn't want to rest.

Thursday was a normal work day.  I was supposed to have training in the morning, but it was the same on canceled from Wednesday.  Alli was supposed to cheer at an away basketball game, but they could not find a bus driver.  It's funny, the old cheer coach was fired because she could not attend the away games.  Well, two of the three away games have been canceled because they can't find a bus driver.  Nice, huh?  Maybe the old coach knew what she was doing?
Have you tried Wal-mart's Deep Dish pizza?  I discovered it a few weeks ago and it is so good.  The kids and I gobble it up.  That was what was for dinner.  It says it's a limited edition on the box and I hope they decide to keep it.

I can't decide what to make for dinner tonight.  I have three choices: Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp, Chicken Enchiladas or Cheddar, Bacon and Corn Soup.  I have another too: Buffalo Chicken Chicken.  The choices!  But we have all weekend, so we can have three out of the four.

How was your week?  What did you do?

Three Things Thursday!

Happy Thursday!  I haven't been posting much the last few weeks.  I had a bunch scheduled and then just poof!   I'm going to go back and finish them and post them for another day!  I'm going to attempt to do a Three Things Post every month. I'm not sure which form it will take, but I'll experiment.

2.  Knock this interview out of the park!
3. Finish my current read and start my new one.

1. I pulled off a successful "Underground" Game!  We made money and we had cake!
2. Cleaned Peyton's Room and put his new sheets on.
3. Alli and I went grocery shopping together!  It was a lot of fun.  I think I spent more than normal (I usually do pick up), but Alli said she wanted to go, so we went.
