Wordless Wednesday (other than a recipe)

Bar-B-Q Spareribs
4 lbs of spareribs
2 tsp butter
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
1 c water
1 c catsup
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 c brown sugar
2 tsp dry mustard
2 tsp pepper
2 tsp salt

Brown off ribs in skillet.  Place in a baking dish.  Pour fat from skillet, melt butter, and add onion.  Cook until brown.  Add next nine ingredients and simmer 20-25 minutes.  Pour sauce over ribs; bake, covered, for 2 hours at 350 degrees, then uncover for 20 minutes.

This is my grandma's delicious recipe.  It always turns out perfectly.  I used her spellings for the ingredients.  Try this dish!  It does take a little time, so make sure you have it to make these.

On Turning 36....

I always joke with my sister that I am 29 for the xx year in a row.
I'm turning 36 today.  I am now closer to 40 than 30 and it doesn't bother me anymore.   I completed a few things off of The 39 List that I started last summer.  I still need seven more ideas to add to it, so if you have any suggestions, let me know!
My daughter made me a birthday breakfast this morning.  She made sure I had my calcium and protein.
I play in a game tonight.
I did laundry all day while watching movies.
My coworkers made me yummy desserts and someone brought chips and dip.  Work was decent.  We are slow this time of year.  People are getting their tax returns and aren't as heavily dependent on food stamps this month.
Last night, we saw Deathwish at the Fork & Screen.  Dinner was good, the movie was good.  Pleasant night.
Tomorrow is dinner with the fam.

Thirty-six will be a good year.  I have more to write, but I guess I have to do all that game stuff and stuff.

Postcrossing

I recently signed up for Postcrossing.
It's a website where you can sign up to send and receive postcards.
You must send a card to receive a postcard, which I think is great.
You can have up to five postcards traveling at a time.
I have postcards traveling to: Germany, France, Russia, Portugal and the Czech Republic.
I am excited to see what I receive back once my name gets put into the rotation.
The person that runs Postcrossing loves stats, so they are constantly scrolling on the main page.
One person in has sent over 24K in postcards!
Thank goodness postcards are cheap!  It's less than a dollar to send, but still....24K is a lot of dollars.

Do you like to send/receive postcards?
Do you have any actual snail mail pen pals?

Happy Fri-yay!

Happy Friday!
We made it!  Good job everyone.

Last week, we found out the official day that our office is closing.  None of us want to leave this office and be relocated.  Relocation is to our downtown office.  That's where I was before I was at my current location.  My work friend (real friend also, but that's where we met) is there but she is retiring at the end of March.  That does not do me any good, since I won't be there until April 27th.

I get two new teammates on my Vixens team tonight.  We already have a large number of players....

This weekend, I am playing with the Zombie League for Fountain City.  This is a group of beginning skaters and they sprinkle trainers in to assist them.  We are playing a team up in Atchison, Kansas.  What is Atchison famous for?

Monday night I went to a Mary Kay training.  Yes, I sell Mary Kay, but mostly I just like the friendships and discount.  During the training, we talked about living in a microwave world.  Everyone wants things done NOW!
I find this true in my job.  Everyone wants their things completed as soon as they turn them in.  They want their food stamps, cash and medical and they want it NOW!
I explained multiple times a day time that we do not work like that.  As long as items are completed by the due date, we are in compliance with the state and federal government.

How can we stop living in a microwave world?  Do we/you expect things to get done right away?
How does it make you feel when you have to wait for something?
I'm a patient person, but if I need something done and I can do it myself, I get it done as soon as I can.

Happy Friday and enjoy the Chin Chin :)

link up: Monday Music

I'm going to jump on with another link up today.  Every week, Cathy, hosts a link up about music over at her blog, Curious as a Cathy.  I've attempted to do the link up before but I never get done in time or I fail at even creating a post.

The theme this week is colors.  Guys, I like colors!  I, also, like songs with colors in the name.  Gold is my favorite color of all times, so I am going to share with you, three songs with gold in the title.

Three very different songs with Gold in the title.  Which one is your favorite?  Which one do you think is my favorite?

What other songs can you think of with gold in the title?

writer’s workshop: how our pet became our pet

How Peanut became ours…..
Way back when my children went to daycare……
The provider got a dog….
The dog was always on a rope in her back yard……
I always stopped and talked and petted and played with the dog….
The provider thought the dog to be annoying…..
The provider started talking about taking the dog to the shelter…..
I asked if I could take the dog….
The dog was so sweet and fun and loveable…..
How could anyone think this dog was annoying…….
The dog came home with us and became our little Peanut….
With us, she wasn’t tied to rope outside…she had lots of beds to sleep in, blankets to cuddle under and people to love on her…..
She was one spoiled pup….
She had her pink tote bag that she would just jump in for fun…..
She greeted us all at the door with nails clicking on the hard wood floor…..
She wagged her tail and jumped to greet us…..
She loved sharing chicken nuggets with her best cat friend….
She thought bath tub water was better than kitchen water and would jump into the bathtub as soon as anyone went in there…..
Her fluffy and soft little ears would always be ready for some love…..
Peanut became old…..
Fourteen years old……
We had her for ten of those years…..
Peanut became sick….
We took her to the vet…..
She had a bad infection only to be cured by surgery….
Surgery she only had a 20% chance of survival and would put her in a lot of pain….
She was fourteen and we know we gave her ten good years….
We miss our Peanut…..
She fit into our annoying little family perfectly....

#IWSG :: March Post

Happy First Hump Day of the Month!

It's that time again for The Insecure Writer's Support Group.
Wanna find out what it's all about?  Click on the link above.

The March 7th question:
How do you celebrate when you achieve a writing goal?

I don't.  I don't celebrate a lot of accomplishments for myself.
I do enjoy celebrating others and making them proud of their accomplishments though.
Maybe this is wrong in thinking, but I don't feel like my accomplishments are as important as those around me.  I want others to feel important and proud.

I did very little writing in February and I have no explanation why.
I did do a link up on my blog, which garnered three participants.  I didn't think I would have any, so I was appreciative of those that played along.  I am going to try to do another one soon.

I've been trying to visit as many others blogs as possible.
Yesterday, I added about 40 from the list for the A to Z Challenge.  I like to make it easy and just add them to my reading list.  I follow anonymously.

What were you up to last month?
Whatcha up to this month?

Happy writing, blogging and whatever makes you happy!
