kansas city: Strawberry Picking

I know strawberry season is almost over.  I've been slow on this thing lately.  I have excuses, but I don't want to talk about my excuses.

So next year, when you are googling "places in Kansas city to pick strawberries", maybe this will come up?  Who knows?

This was a few weeks ago.
We went to Gieringer's Orchards.  It's around 45 minutes south of Kansas City.  It's not a bad drive, but you have to remember that people in Kansas/Missouri do not know about defensive driving or that you pass on the left and don't drive super slow in that lane.

Gieringer's Orchards is wonderful.  This year the price was $2.75 a pound for fresh strawberries.  We got around three pounds.  The girls were very exclusive to which strawberries ended up in the crate.  This would be something everyone in your family could do.

There are other Strawberry patches around the Kansas City area:

Wohletz Farm
Buck Eye Acres
Spanish Gardens Berry Farms

Most of them still have berries to pick at this point in May.  They keep their websites and books of Faces updated to let everyone know what's going on.
