National Sandwich Day!

Here is a super simple sandwich recipe you can try.
Apple, Cheddar and Bacon Monte Cristo

Ingredients:

Bacon, around 12 slices

French Bread, 8 slices

Cheddar Cheese

2 Golden Delicious or Gala Apples

3 Large Eggs

½ cup of milk (or you can use half/half)

Nutmeg

Butter

And if you want, you can drizzle with some maple syrup

Bake your bacon.  375 degrees for around 20 minutes.  However, crispy you want it.

Arrange four slices of bread with some cheese and apple slices.  Slice those apples thin.

Beat the eggs with milk and nutmeg.

Put three slices of bacon on each slice of bread and add some more cheese, then top with four more slices of bread.  You know, making a sandwich.

Coat the sandwiches with the egg batter.

Grill the sandwiches on both sides until the cheese is melted.

Slice it and syrup it!

It should look kinda like this….

Okay....I didn't get a picture.  It didn't turn out pretty. (It's hard to flip a grilled sandwich without a pancake turner!)  It tasted pretty though.  It was Alli and Peyton approved.

Found an older picture...from when I made it before...
