Happy Friday Eve!

After work yesterday, I went to the grocery to pick up some items for soft tacos.  I did not have any chicken or avocados or any of the good stuff other than cheese.  I picked up some snacks and lunch items for the kids also.  When I got home, Peyton had two friends over and Alli had one friend over.  I got all the groceries inside and put the chicken in the Instapot with seasoning and set it to go.  I went to the front room and noticed the Uno cards.  So, I called all five kids into the living room and we played an intense game of Uno Flip.  It lasted quite a while, but everyone joined in and had a blast.  Buster even tried to play, but we ended up playing tug of war with his rope instead.  Uno is really fun with a lot of people.  I ran derby practices at one of the leagues last night.  We did lots of fun things; worked on skills, played games, did endurance.
The kids ate the soft tacos and loved the instapot chicken.  It's seriously my favorite household appliance.
While Alli was in Costa Rica, I was volunteering at Girl Scout Day Camp.  It was weird not having my daughter there.  It was the first year she has missed since Kindergarten.  She's a Teen Leader and loves it.  She's also an older teen, so more responsibility and fun having.  My volunteer job at camp....cooking for the masses.  I love it.  I plan, purchase food and prepare and serve it.  Most of the time it's for Teens and Staff only.  One dinner is for the entire camp though.
This year was an around the world theme.  For the teen dinner, I made Indian Food for them.  Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Korma Chicken, Jasmine Rice and Naan Bread.  It was a huge hit and not a single scrap of food was left.
For the all camp dinner, I made Enchiladas (chicken and beef) served with chips and salsa.  I made around 160 enchiladas.  That's a lot.  It took me a little bit of time.
This picture was when I left after serving dinner.  It was a big old storm approaching.  I'm glad I left when I did, because all the scouts had to move to the main building due to the lightening.
Peyton is enjoying baseball for the most part.  He is running into home here.  He has two more games, one tonight and one on Friday night.

Alli, intensely, watching the game.
This is Fred.  He's obsessed with holding on to me.  It looks like his claw is stuck in my leg, but it's not.  He's a sweet, big, fluffy cat.
And here is Kibben.  He also likes to cuddle my feet.  I don't know if it's because they lay at the end of the bed and that's where my feet are or what.
My car reached a milestone.  Don't worry, I was sitting at the stoplight when I took this picture.
Today, the Governor of Missouri, announced that state employees would receive the 5th of July off.  Paid holiday!  I had already had the day off as I had requested leave, but now I do not have to use the vacation time and I can save up the time for our big family road trip next summer.
I worked a lot of OT in April and I've still not been paid out for it.  I called payroll and they have no idea why it hasn't gone into pay.  I had originally worked the OT to buy a new fridge.  Apparently, I didn't need to do that, I was able to get it just fine.  But it had a specific purpose and I didn't expect it to take over 2.5 months to pay out.  Now, it's just going to go into savings to put towards vacation.

Tell Me Something Good Tuesday

Happy Tuesday!  This week is off  to a busy start.  It's okay busy, not overwhelming busy.  Tell me something good that has been going on!
Here are somethings around these parts:
  • Alli had an amazing time in Costa Rica!
  • The A/C is getting fixed today! (It was supposed to be last Friday but freak Thunderstorms were happening)
  • My new kitchen table is arriving today!
  • Book exchange is arriving this week!
  • The Vixens won!
  • Derby again this weekend with the Sheilas!
  • Peyton has two baseball games this week!
  • Alli and I saw Aladdin this last weekend.  I really enjoyed it.
Introducing our new doggo!
His name is Buster and we found him at the Great Plains SPCA.  I got my two cats from here also.
He's an Australian Cattle Dog.
He has lots of energy and loves to be outside.
He doesn't run away, he runs around the yard though, having a good old time.
He likes his rope.  He won't sleep on his bed, but he will sleep right next to it.
He uses the ottoman to be the king of the window and guard all the things.
His best dog friend is my mom's dog, Sophie.  They play and play and play until they are both passed out.
He was seeing Alli off to Costa Rica.  He's like hoooman doonnn''tttt leave me!
Peyton and Buster are best buds.  Common sight.
Peyton sleeping on the couch and Buster protecting him.
This UNO Flip game is so much fun!  We have played it so many times this week.  I found it at Target and definitely recommend it for family fun.  We tried to teach Buster, but he rather play with  his rope.  Who knew?!

Sprinkles are for Winners....

The Victory Vixens, my team, for the Kansas City Roller Warriors, has pulled off the impossible.  We climbed the impossible hill.  We were doubted the entire season and this past game.  We did it though.  We went from last place to playing the Rink of Fire for the Warder Cup in July.

The Vixens, we struggled at the beginning, but we finally got our stuff together.  We kept losing at first, we didn't lose by very much, but it was still a loss.  We started Saturday nights game 1-4, technically in fourth place according to wins/losses.  Third place if we did points, but that doesn't come into play until teams are tied.  We won our game on Saturday.  We had to win by a significant spread to play in the Rink of Fire.  We had to win by 97.  We won by 102.  Next month, on July 20th, we are fighting for the trophy.
Before the game, we've been doing fun things.  In May, we played a bunch of games and laughed so hard.  Before this game, we played with a large red/white/blue beach ball.  We used it for our intro, too.  Just playing ball and waving to the crowd when it was our turn to be introduced.
I'm off skates because I fouled out in the last five minutes of the game.  I was killing it.  When you kill it and play a lot, you get a lot of penalties.  When you foul out, you have to gear down before you can return to your team.
The one in the red helmet is a medical student and has been studying in Romania and Liberal, KS this summer.  She drove lots of miles and lots of hours to play in the game.  I am so glad she did.  Every team member is a valuable asset.
I had already purchased Ice Cream and toppings for my team.  One of my teammates had a birthday this past week and I asked her what kind of dessert she liked and she said ice cream.  So, I did a whole sundae bar thing.  I got sprinkles.  Sprinkles are a big thing.  Because sprinkles are for winners.  Sprinkles were everywhere!

Ice Cream Sundae's at the bar!  It's a thing.  It was delicious.  I love this little bar, they let us bring it food and fun and really don't care what we do.

Iron Throne Read Along

I’ve decided to take the leap!  I’m going to read The Song of Fire and Ice series.  I found a nice pacing and reading guidelines on a blog that I follow and decided to join in.  I know I’m a few days late, so lots of reading to do tonight.  It’s a good thing I have all the books in my possession (except book 6, of course) and I do not have to get them from anywhere.
I have not finished the entire Game of Thrones series.  I am in the middle of season four.  It’s so good.  I’m afraid to reach the end because I have heard it’s a hot mess.
Please check out Novel Knight’s blog for full instructions and an amazing spreadsheet.  It looks so pretty.  Use the hashtag: #IronThroneReadalong and jump into the fun!
