Postcards

I've mentioned it on the blog a few times that I love sending and receiving postcards. I hadn't done it for a little while.
I use the website called Postcrossing to get addresses to send postcards to.  You have to send to receive.
They limit the number you can send at a time.  Once you hit a certain number sent, they bump the amount you can have traveling at one time up.  Right now, I am at nine traveling.

I have cards traveling to: Japan, Russia, Germany, Canada, Switzerland, China, Czech Republic, Turkey and Finland.  My guess is the Canada and Germany will arrive to their destinations first.  Russia is usually last.

Tips for postcrossing:
  • Print the address label.  That way it is exactly as the person has written it.
  • Print the Postcard ID at the same time.
  • Some people have gotten particular on what kind of card they want.  I try to accommodate, but if I don't have anything that fits what they want, they get what is in my pile.
  • Try to write a little something about your hometown.
  • Have fun with it!  I display my postcards at work!
Happy last day of August!   I changed my calendars at work on Friday to September.  I can't believe it's almost September!

We are going to the baseball game tonight!  I cannot wait for the BBQ achos and wandering around the stadium, taking in the game.  Let’s hope the rain stays away!

Alli is housesitting on Saturday night and we are going to dinner at my mom’s on

What did the Camel say?

We are halfway through the last week in August.  Last week of August.  Time does fly when you are an adult.  This week has not been bad so far.  Is it bad that I really can't remember what I did Monday after work?  I took a long bath and read my book, but I feel like I did something before that.  Probably driving the kiddos around everywhere.  That's my guess.
Tuesday is when Peyton started practice for Fall Ball.  I drove him out to practice and then he went to his dad's afterwards.  Well, kinda.  Their dad got called into work and he dropped them off around 8:30 pm.  Which is perfectly fine.  I was home.  I think I had just gotten home from Target and checking on a few things for derby.
Let's talk Target.  Why do they not have their fall decorating things out yet?  I got a lot of my mantle décor from the dollar spot there.  I wanted to see if they had a few candles to add to it.  Maybe it was just the Target I was at.
This is my postcard board at work.  I need to start sending and receiving postcards again.  I did add a new one on there recently.  My coworker had gone to Paris.  The one right next to the calendar is of two cats in the moonlight with the Eiffel Tower in the background.  I love it.
Do you like to send and receive postcards?
One of my coworkers said my makeup looked good.  :)  A boost for the day.
I'm only working until 12:15 today.  The kiddos have their annual doctors appointments.
Thursday is going to be interesting at our office.  There is just me as the regular staff member for our intake.  We are borrowing people from our processing center, it's definitely going to be interesting.

Tonight is my last time running recruitment night for one of the derby leagues.  I'm not sad, I'm relieved.  I've been recruitment committee head for 3 years, it's time to pass the torch.

The rest of the week, other than work, should be pretty good.  Thursday, we have no plans.  Friday, we are going to the baseball game -- Royals v. Orioles. Then nothing planned for the long weekend.  I am going to find us something fun to do and see if my mom wants to do dinner one of the days.

What do you have planned for the long weekend?  I guess I should be asking that on Friday!
Here are a few pictures from this past weekend.

Wrapping Up the Weekend

It's stormy around here this Monday morning!  How's it where you are?
How was your weekend?  Did you get to relax or was it a whirlwind?
It was a whirlwind around here.  But first, a picture of the cats. <3
My children said something that I am going to take to heart.  They asked me why I'm always volunteering and helping others, but no one will help me.  They are right.  I give and give and give and receive almost nothing in return.  Soon, I am stepping back.  I am not happy right now with a lot of things and it's not good for my mind, body or soul.

Friday night, I rented some movies to watch.  I knew it was going to be a crazy, busy Saturday and Sunday, so I took the time to veg out.  I watched "Pet Cemetery" (the new one) and "Dumbo".  I should say I watched most of "Dumbo", I still need to finish it.  I made enchiladas for dinner and took a nice, relaxing bath and read my book.

Saturday was a comedy of errors, but everything worked out fine in the end.
We won our game on Saturday.  It was a tough one, but we beat them by 20 points.  We, also, have a sponsor.  Liquid Death.  It's water in a can.  Death to plastic.  It's expensive though.
Sunday, I traveled to Salina, Kansas to play in the last game of a tournament.  We ended up getting third, which is good, since the team played with so few people on Saturday.  We ate sliders at some place called Cozy Inn.  It was cute.

It's Fri-YAY!

Happy Friday!   We made it through another week!
Time passes so fast as an adult.  It is because we are constantly busy?!

On Monday, I worked in a small county resource center.  It did not act like a small county that day though, it was super busy.  I was afraid I wouldn't get everything that I needed to do done.  I did get a little time in the afternoon to finish all the things though.  That night, we made homemade pizza and I had a get together with one of my teams for a couple of hours.  It was a good night.

Tuesday and Wednesday were normal work days.  I ran practices both of those nights, but for two different leagues.  I did a lot of repeat things, but no one was at both practices, so  I was good.

Thursday was Alli's back to school night.  We met her teachers.  Her chem teacher and I were in the same program at UMKC and graduated together, so that is a neat little connection.  Alli bought a T-shirt for the closing of Swartz Field that will occur later this year.  We picked up scholarship information, so we can start looking into those things.  I wanted to pick up a Foundation Pass.  This gets me into all the home games for the year for free.  I rather pay one fee, than how ever many games I end up attending fees.  I got the form for it since the person who does the stuff was gone that evening.

Friday is going to be my free day!  We have nothing to do tonight, so I plan on making enchiladas for dinner.

Saturday is hella busy.  Too busy, but you gotta get things done.  Sunday isn't as busy, just a few hours of travel.

How's your week going?  Any exciting plans for the weekend?
One of our clients dropped this off.  In an envelope with a zip tie.  Please tell me why the zip tie is needed for a drop box item.
Alli at Back to School night.  She loves her art class.  They are doing some pretty cool things.
Alli doing her homework while eating her left overs.  She went out with her grandma for dinner, then after back to school night, she wanted to finish her burger.  Buster also wanted to finish her burger.
My newest read.  It's not anything popular or new, but I enjoy it because it's light hearted and fun
I tried a foot mask this time.
This one smelled really good.
You put it on and let it dry.  It stays on your feet over night.
It Fri-YAY! and I'm happy to be working in the back office.
My shirt and shoes match!   I'm such a dork!

Friday Fun!

I don't think I can call it Five on Friday because last week, I totally didn't do Five things.  I'm not sure how many I did do.
This week has been wonderful and great.
I had Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off.  I took a mini vacation.  It was much needed.
On Monday, we went school shopping, Alli tried her permit test, we ate out and saw a movie.  It was such a good day.
Tuesday was the first day of school.  Peyton rode the bus and Alli got a ride from friends.  They had a dentist appointment afterwards.  All went well.
On Wednesday, I did a lot of things around the house.  The front room is all finished!  I will do a front room tour on the blog soon.  It looks so good now!  The wall color looks so much better.
I had two practices on Wednesday and both of them went really well.  I felt like I got a lot out of them.
On Thursday, I returned to work for a half day.  I had a conference call in the morning regarding my project.  I left at noon because Peyton had an ortho appointment.  I made some chicken tacos for dinner.  The Instapot is my best friend for making chicken.
Now, we are on Friday!  Happy Friday everyone!  I hope your weekend has a ton of fun things going on!
I thought this was a good quote.  I need to really think this.
 I ordered this from Grove.co
I can't tell the difference between any of the other bath salts.
Alli attempting her permit test.
I found this interesting face mask at Marshall's.  Guys, I tried it out and I didn't like it.  I guess I put it on thick.  I couldn't get it off my face.  It was terrible.  It's supposed to peel off.  It did not do that and it was on my face for a long time!!  There is also glitter all over my tub now.
I'm working on organizing my bathroom.  I bought a shoe organizer and it looks so much better than everything on my small counter.  Still working on the bathroom, but making progress.
Peyton was pooped after the first day of school.  Him and Buster were passed out.
What went well for you this week?  What are you looking forward to this weekend?

First Day of School 2019-2020

The first day of school has come around here!  It wasn't terrible.  Back to school shopping was easy.  Peyton found two pairs of jeans that he liked and a pair of shoes.  I got some athletic pants for him and he only wanted t-shirts in gray, white, blue and black...no writing on them.
He only needed a few school supplies; two comp notebooks, some regular notebooks, pens and pencils.  As you can see, he in no one wanted to smile for me.  It looks like a mugshot.  It's his last year of middle school!  On to the Eighth Grade journey.  I am happy he doesn't hate his classes.
Buster wanted in on the fun and you can see Peyton is kinda smiling at him. :)
He had me drive him up to the bus stop.  His bus comes at 6:42 am.  The high school bus passed us at 6:39 am.  Alli didn't ride the bus though, she got a ride from friends.
Alli had fun shopping.  We went to Target, Marshalls and Plato's Closet to get her clothes.  She was spending her own money and was able to get a lot of things she liked at Plato's Closet.  We got her backpack at Marshall's and she picked up a few non-school things there also.  Our shopping day also consisted on Jack in the Box for lunch and we went to see "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark".  It was so good.  I expect a sequel with how it ended.
Cinnamon rolls for breakfast!
Buster was missing his boy and hanging out on his bed.  I was washing his comforter at the time.  Buster likes to unmake the bed and put himself under the covers.
How was everyone else's first days?

Five on Friday!

The work week is coming to an end!  Let's share what good happened this week!  You don't have to limit it to five, because if more than five good things happened, let's chat about it!

I thought this meme was hilarious.  The cat and the dog face crack me up!  Do you have any good memes to share?
Peyton's Back to School night was on Thursday!  Guys!  I am so happy with his teachers and classes.  8th grade is going to be so much better than 7th.  His electives are Spanish I, Computer Applications and Industrial Arts for the first semester.  Second semester he keeps the Spanish class and gets FACS and PE instead of the other two.  I'm happy with his home room teacher.  Alli had him for science her 8th grade year and he's really great.  The class is hard, but science is hard. He really didn't want me to take his picture.  I wanted it in front of the school banner, but he flat out refused.
I woke up this morning and found this lovely heap on my couch.  The dog loves being under the blankets.  He was tucked in right with Peyton.  Peyton had a friend spending the night and he gave his friend his bed and he took the couch.  I'm going to miss the summer days with all the kids spending the night at my house.
I ordered the FabFitFun box.  I had advertisements for it all over Facebook and Instagram.  They had a 50% off code, so I was like, why not?  The full price is $50 plus shipping.  The products were lovely.  I got one of those boards that you can write messages, which is cool.  The towel I am going to use for the float trip this weekend.  I got a foot mask that I am looking forward to trying.  There were some makeup products and sprays.  I got a necklace with stars on it that is perfect for me.  All in all, I would say it's a good box.  I don't know if I will order it again.  It's not terribly expensive for what you get, but I want to concentrate on other things right now moneywise.

Other good things:  Float trip this weekend!  Yay!
Mash up for Travel Team on Sunday!
I've applied for my dream job.  It's a long shot, but the worse they can say is no. :)
Despite having to work the front desk for two days, work went really well.  I'm making progress on my project and there are a few clients I feel like I've really helped.
One of my coworkers/friend got a new job!  I gave her a glowing recommendation.  I am sad to see her go, but I love when people get opportunities in life.

Happy Hump Day!

Happy Wednesday friends!  This week has flown by!  Sometimes, I wish days would just slow down!
Over the weekend, I started painting in my house.  I had someone recently make a comment stating it looked like I just moved in.  The neutral paint on the walls and nothing on the walls.  The paint I decided on for the walls is called Evaporation.  The door paint is Allure.  I have still not decided on a trim color.  I have small chalkboards that I am going to decorate each bedroom door with.
I've started on the front room.  I have two of the three walls that need to be painted done.
I have only a day and a half left of work.  I am leaving early Friday to go on a float trip with some friends.  I rented a Kayak and I'm super excited about it.  I haven't kayak'd in over a year.  Excited for camping and floating!
Peyton's back to school night is on Thursday.  I've already ordered my PTA membership and T-shirt, so I don't need to worry about it tomorrow night.  I've paid the lunch accounts, so they are set to go on the first day.  Online registration was completed the first day it was available.  We just need to go to the school, get his schedule and meet his teachers.
I have Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off next week.  I am going to get caught up on house things, get the kiddos off to school and relax.  I'm excited for my mini-vaca.  Monday, I'm taking the kids back to school shopping for a few outfits and their minimal supplies that the need.  Having children in Middle School and High School is a dream for school supply shopping.  We have a ton of things left from last year, so I'm pretty sure all I need to buy is Kleenex, hand sanitizer and a binder for both of them.  I think Alli needs a backpack.  I'll have to confirm with her.  We have pencils, pens, paper and notebooks already.

My bathroom door is smaller than the rest of the doors.  I never realized that until I started painting.  There are four doors in the small hallway.  Three bedroom doors and one bathroom.  The door not pictured, is our extra bedroom door.

Starting the front room.  I don't think I got any completed pictures.  I'll have to snap some tonight. Oh, and my air register at the top was closed!  I always wondered why the front room was a little warmer than the rest of the rooms!
Buster is a super helpful painting buddy.  He is really good at stepping in the paint.  Thank goodness it's not difficult to get off the floor.  I love his sweet face.  He's a good doggo.
Best friend, Maggie!  Always my cuddle buddy!
After our six mile hike on Sunday!

Five on Friday!

Five on Friday!
I'm going to start doing the Five on Friday!  Five things that have gone well during the week!

1.  I found a podcast to listen to.  I'm not a good podcast listener and this one has me.  Maybe it's because I was obsessed with these books when I was younger.
Check out The Baby-Sitters Club Club if you want to remember a time way back when.

2.  We had our Victory Vixens celebration on Wednesday.  I don't have any pictures from it, because I put my phone in my bag and that's where it stayed the entire night.  We had tacos, bragged on ourselves about how awesome our game was and put some decorations on the trophy.

3.  The Sheilas won our second game!

4.  Everyone is doing the 10 Days of Roller Derby Challenge.  I've been tagged in some fun pictures.  This picture is from the time we went to the Jersey Shore for CCRE.  I am so sad it's not around anymore, but I still want to go back there.  It was lovely.  AND SO MUCH FUN!

5.  My long time project at work is almost completed!  I have to write up Standard Operating Procedures for it and it will be presented to upper management.  I am so happy it made it that far.

Happy Friday!
What went well for you this week?
