#atozchallenge : B is for Booze and Brunch

Guys!  It's time for Bs and I don't mean bitches!  That was one of my topic choices, but I decided that would be a long post on how woman started being called bitches.

I'm going for Booze and Brunch!!  My friend, Mischa, gave me this topic idea.

With brunch, we think Mimosas!  I love mimosas!  I could drink them all day long and wake up fine the next morning. I got to Pinteresting mimosas, because, why not?  Pinterest even showed me how I could make my own mimosa bar.  Would people come to my house for brunch if I set up a mimosa bar?  I would so have a mimosa party.  Pinterest showed me that it's supposed to be 50% bubbly substance and 50% juice.  I will agree to disagree on that one as I prefer more bubbly than 50% of my drink.  Personal preference though.  The cheaper champagne works better for them.  I like a Brut for mine.  Andres offers a cheap Brut option.
What are your favorite types of mimosas?  I love the apple cider mimosas and strawberry lemonade mimosas.  Plain old mimosas are super awesome also.  Don't forget the OG.  There is such a myriad of them that I know I am going to find some new ones from the comments.  What's your favorite brunch time drink?

If you want to try my Apple Cider Mimosa, here is the recipe:
Cheap Champagne
Apple Cider
White Sugar and Brown Sugar for the Rim
If you want to add caramel, here is an easy recipe for that.  P.S.  I love Sally's Baking Addiction!  So many top recipes to try.

Now, for brunch foods.....
French Toast is the first thing that comes to my mind.
Wanna hear what my secret ingredient in French Toast is?
Vanilla.  I add it to caramel sauce also, but that's something entirely different.
French Toast Recipes for the taking:
4 eggs, beaten (a little)
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt
bread (I like Texas Toast, but sandwich bread works the same)
Mix the first five ingredients and let the bread soak in it for about 30 seconds, then toast them on the griddle.
I always top with butter first, powdered sugar second and syrup last.
Try the vanilla in there and let me know if you dig it or not.

Breakfast Casseroles also ring a bell for brunch.
Casseroles to me are something that you can just throw together and it will taste awesome.
So, my simple breakie casserole is: bacon, sausage, eggs, hashbrowns, cheddar cheese and garlic.  Garlic is my all time fav ingredient!  What would you throw in yours?
Leave a comment with your favorite breakfast/brunch recipe.  Link me to your blog because I want to see what the B you are up to!

  1. The current fad brunch food in Australia at the moment is smashed avocado on toast. Of course, it gets prettied up at a cafe (sourdough bread, sprinkled herbs on top). There was a shortage of avos recently and it made news headlines, lol.

  2. Hey Morgan! Don't shoot me but I like my Mimosa with 100% bubbly 🥂🍾
Great theme for the Easter Weekend, too! I'm all about sweet for breakfast, so hold the sausages and bacon and whip up some pancakes for me, please?
    Happy A-Z!

  3. French toast is a favourite of mine. But in India, we have a few other dishes as well. One of the local favourites is a pancake made from wheat flour. That is a favourite. Here, the usual brunch drinks are fruit juices or tea or coffee. Booze is reserved for evening, unless one just can't do without it.

  4. As a southern girl we totally get the need for AM alcohol..lol
We like a bit of seasonality, we are almost to strawberry season here so we'll be doing the strawberry lemonade but try a strawberry rhubarb if you'd like a bit more tang. I totally agree about the less expensive brands, Hope you had a wonderful Holiday morning!

  8. A nearby restaurant here makes their French toast out of challah, and it's really good. Good post!

  9. Okay, I like the way you think! Bats and booze. What could be better? Personally, my mimosas end up with a lot of champs and not much juice. My choice of brunch foods tend to be savory. I love French toast, but I'm really more of a biscuits and gravy kind of gal. Or eggy, quichey kinds of things. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I will be visiting yours again!

  10. I love mimosas too. I've never heard of the variations you mention. The strawberry lemonade one sounds delish.

  11. I, too, love mimosas - I'm happy with OJ and bubbly!! I have a great brunch recipe for a casserole with eggs, Canadian bacon, cheese, and CROUTONS! I like to put vanilla in my French toast. It is a great addition!!

  12. I just love to eat breakfast out. If I have a choice to go to a restaurant at a certain time of day it's always going to be breakfast. So while I may have a million and one in recipes for lunches and dinners I don't have a ton for breakfast because I really do prefer to go out. There's something about someone else making breakfast for you!zoe I'm here from the A to Z, this was a really fun read thank you!unchartedblogdotorg.wordpress.com/2018/04/02/by-chance-to-blog/

  14. When it comes to brunch, I'm more of a Bloody Mary type of guy but a Strawberry Lemonade mimosa sounds real good!

My favorite Sunday brunch recipe is a breakfast scramble sort of thing. A good mix of eggs, roasted potatoes, mushrooms, green peppers, and onions. I'm usually partial to savory stuff instead of sweet things.

  16. Yummy! Love mimosas. Had one recently with champagne, blood orange juice and a little brandy. French toast, yes please. Vanilla and cinnamon of course but also perhaps a little ricotta and peaches in the middle?

  17. While I like a Mimosa, I'd much prefer a good Bloody Mary!

  18. I have a sweatshirt that says "Brunch Because Mimosas" lol. But I can't drink mimosas all day because after a couple I need a nap, which is really weird for me. I don't nap, unless mimosas. Hahaha. And OMG! My husband and I aren't eating bread right now (or most carbs, eating keto) and that french toast looks AMAZING!!!!!!!

  19. Mimosas should be an every weekend thing, not just for occasions, imho. Fun fact: A mimosa made with cranberry juice is called Poinsettia!

We used to drink mimosas in the vehicle driving to the district annual/holiday meeting, and I was told there that using bubbly from the day before mixes better. That's fine for me, because hubs doesn't drink wine of any kind, so I can have a few glasses of bubbly one night, and mimosas for breakfast in the morning!
